My artist book “The Sumida River Almanac” is o My artist book “The Sumida River Almanac” is on sale at the POLYCOPIES 2024 art book fair in Paris, France, November 6 - November 10, 2024. It is exhibited at booth C29, PHOTOBOOK AS OBJECT / PHOTOBOOK WHO CARES by members of Reminders Photography Stronghold. If you are in the area, please stop by! ----- The Suimida River Almanac This work is a two-volume photobook that objectifies the time stacked on the Sumida River.The “main volume,” using traditional Japanese binding, consists of time-lapse observations of the Sumida River taken from March 24, 2019, to March 24, 2020, without missing a single day, intertwined with archival images of historical events related to the Sumida River that occurred on the same day in the past. The other volume, “Draft,” contains production notes and 10 essays on the Sumida River, and serves as a making-of version of the “main” book.The structure of the “Main” implies a linear timeline, while the “Draft” suggests a circular timeline. The historical events in the “Main” are presented panoramically, based on a one-sided binding style. The landscapes captured at fixed points are special places for the Sumida River, and March 24, the beginning and end of the Almanac, is a significant day for the river. We hope you will enjoy the objectified special time and space of the Sumida River at the exhibition venue.

明日から10/14まで、天王洲の寺田倉庫 明日から10/14まで、天王洲の寺田倉庫で開催されるアートイベント「MEET YOUR ART FESTIVAL」にて、Reminders Photography Strongholdのブースから、私のアーティストブック「すみだ川画暦 〜The Sumida River Almanac」を店頭販売します。 10/12と13はブースで店番の予定ですので、ぜひご来場ください。 【開催概要】 MEET YOUR ART FESTIVAL 「NEW ERA」 「TOKYO ART MARKET」 会場: WHAT CAFE @whatcafe_terrada 2024年10月11日(金)～14日(月・祝) 天王洲アイルエリアの寺田倉庫 東京都品川区東品川2-1-11 (りんかい線「天王洲アイル駅」より徒歩4分／東京モノレール「天王洲アイル駅」より徒歩5分) 【作品概要】 浦川和也 『すみだ川画暦（えごよみ）～The Sumida River Almanac〜』 （Kassel Dummy Award 2023、ショートリスト50選 選定作品） 隅田川に積層された時間をオブジェクト化した2冊組の写真集。和綴じの「本編」は、2019年3月24日から2020年3月24日にかけて、1日も欠かさず撮影した隅田川の定点観測と、過去の同じ日に起きた隅田川に関する歴史的事象を折り重ねた構成。一方で「草稿」は、本作の製作ノートと隅田川にまつわる10編のエッセイを収録したメイキング版的な内容です。「本編」では直進的な時間軸が、「草稿」では循環的な時間軸が造本に込められていて、また「本編」の歴史的事象は、片観音綴じを基本にパノラミックな意図が反映されています。 定点撮影された風景は隅田川にとって特別な場所であり、また画暦の始点と終点である3月24日は、隅田川にとって特別な日です。ぜひ会場でお手に取って、隅田川のオブジェクト化された特別な時空間をお楽しみください。 https://www.instagram.com/p/DA8BGJBSG3w/?igsh=YnRzMTEyY3F2ZXZm
